When it comes to expensive skin care, my general feeling is that it’s typically overhyped, and I would rather find cheaper alternatives. But after trying these miracle peel pads by clinical skin care brand PCA Skin, even I can’t help but admit that some things really are just worth the money. These newly launched exfoliators somehow managed to make my skin the literal softest it’s ever felt, and that’s coming from someone who has chronically textured skin due to a condition called keratosis pilaris, more commonly known as KP. Aside from nearly eliminating the bumpy patches and roughness brought on by KP — something I never thought could be possible considering all of the products and lengths I have gone to manage it (including professional intervention) — the PCA Skin triple exfoliation peel pads gave my complexion an overall brightness and refinement and cleared away my frequent skin flaking caused by Tretinoin use. My pores on and around my nose, as well as my forehead and chin, appeared significantly minimized, and I haven’t seen one pimple since starting this peel pad adventure. Aside from the $60 price tag, I was also hesitant to use these because I have very sensitive skin, and I braced myself for the likely possibility that they would cause irritation. But after using them every night for about two months, they’ve actually reduced my chronic redness and only make my skin tingle for about 30 seconds after using them. Aside from how instantly effective these pads are, I also justify the price because the formula contains a very action-packed lineup of chemical exfoliants: lactic, glycolic, mandelic, and salicylic acids. It’s the ultimate blend of acids that tackles nearly every major skin concern, from clogged pores to hyperpigmentation to fine lines and skin dullness, all in one product. They also contain prickly pear extract, an enzyme that can eat away dead skin cells and promote cell renewal, as well as niacinamide for brightening, licorice root for soothing redness, and peptides, which dermatologists have previously told us stimulate collagen production. And because the pads are textured on one side, you can also add physical exfoliation to the mix for extra efficacy.I find it’s best to use these each night as the first step after cleansing (feel free to gradually ramp to daily use), and always use a sunscreen during the day since exfoliants can make your skin more prone to sunburn. Again, I agree that $60 for a jar of 30 pads is a steep price to pay in the name of skin care, but I have found that I can actually get two uses out of one pad because they are so thoroughly soaked and don’t feel completely dry after the first use. In the reviews below, you can see that others are just as pleased as I am with how well PCA Skin’s triple exfoliation peel pads work, or you can just bite the bullet and grab a jar for yourself for supremely soft and better-looking skin. Promising PCA Skin reviews:“This product is AMAZING!! My skin feels so soft and smooth, and my skin tone is more even, not to mention brighter. I currently use the product twice a week, and I feel that’s adequate. I highly recommend adding triple exfoliation peel pads to your skincare regimen!!!“ — SarahAz“Huge fan of these compared to the competitor (ZO) these feel stronger yet well tolerated with daily use. I’ve noticed a nice glow, more even toned skin, and a slight reduction in my hormonal acne on my lower jawline and neck. PCA is my go to for professional skincare thanks to my esthetician, so I’ve tried many of their products and peels, but this product is one I noticed a positive difference with almost immediately. I look forward to using these long-term and continuing to see results!” — Jillian R.If you want to shop for more peel pads that cost a little less than the ones featured above, take a look at these great options from previous HuffPost coverage:AmazonA K-beauty cult-faveFew items have impressed senior shopping writer and beauty expert Lourdes Avila Uribe as much as these cult-favorite toning facial pads.
