Shiromani Akali Dal chief and former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked near a gurdwara in Maharashtra’s Nanded on Thursday, police said.Badal was hospitalised following the incident, according to police. A police officer from his security team also sustained injuries, news agency PTI reported.A viral video showed Badal walking inside a building with a cloth wrapped around his right hand. Further details about the nature of his injuries were not immediately available.Earlier in the day, Badal had visited Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded along with his wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who is an Akali Dal MP.The circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of the attacker are not yet clear.
