…NDC presidential candidate urges calm, calls for peaceful, credible election

Peter Obi, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, has condemned what he described as “inflammatory comments and threat-laden rhetoric” attributed to Senator Francis Fadahunsi ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, demanded the immediate retraction of the remarks and an apology to the people of Osun State, insisting that voters must be allowed to freely choose their governor without intimidation or coercion.

In a statement posted on his X handle, Obi expressed concern that statements capable of heightening political tensions could create fear among voters and undermine the peaceful conduct of the election.

He said that lawmakers, particularly those holding senior positions in the National Assembly, have a constitutional and moral duty to promote peace, democratic values and national unity.
