Brazil’s data protection agency has barred Discord from offering livestreams in the country until it institutes protections for young people, after the death of an adolescent girl during a livestream.
The National Data Protection Authority, or ANPD, on Wednesday ordered Discord to introduce “reasonable” policies to prevent risks to minors associated with accessing dangerous content, including content that promotes violence and self-harm.
The San Francisco-based company, which earlier this year filed confidentially for an IPO, was given three days to comply.
