Chung Sung-Jun/Getty ImagesAug. 13, 2026 Updated 4:17 am EDTSaudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah are in advanced talks over a move for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.Talks between the two clubs and between Al Qadsiah and the player are ongoing and despite a focus on the Saudi club’s season opener later on Thursday there is hope a deal can be closed in the coming days.The Netherlands international only moved to the Etihad Stadium a year ago but his future is the subject of speculation following the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.Forest themselves hold a serious interest in the 28-year-old, who cost £46.5million from AC Milan in June 2025.He joined on a contract until 2030 after being voted Serie A’s midfielder of the year after scoring 15 goals in all competitions in his final season in Italy and starting 63 of his 64 games for Milan.Al Qadsiah are looking to upgrade their squad with top quality players ahead of moving into a new stadium. The club are due to move to Aramco Stadium, the newly-constructed venue which is set to host matches at the 2027 Asian Cup.Reijnders made 47 appearances in his debut year for City, scoring five goals and adding two assists.He started only half of the team’s Premier League games, however, with Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Rayan Cherki preferred by now former manager Pep Guardiola during the second half of the campaign.Rodri’s own future at City remains to be decided with Barcelona pushing to sign him. Bernardo Silva already departed on a free transfer and joined Real Madrid after the expiration of his contract.City hold an interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez with new head coach Enzo Maresca having worked with him at Stamford Bridge.Chelsea have given a 5pm (11am ET) deadline on Friday for City to make an offer for the Argentina international or they insist he will stay at the club.
