Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan during a meeting with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra RamgoolamNavy chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, during his official visit to Mauritius, Wednesday met PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam.Discussions during the meeting were centred on strengthening maritime security cooperation, training exchanges, information exchange mechanisms, capacity building efforts and operational linkages between Indian Navy and Mauritius National Coast Guard, Navy officials said.The Navy chief assured the Mauritius PM of full support, assistance, cooperation and collaboration of Indian Navy in capability enhancement and capacity building endeavours of Mauritius Police Force and National Coast Guard, it said.On Tuesday, Admiral Swaminathan interacted with Rampersad Sooroojebally, commissioner of police of Mauritius Police Force, Kan Oye Fong Weng-Poorun, secretary for home and defence affairs, and Anurag Srivastava, the high commissioner of India to Mauritius.“India and Mauritius share an enduring maritime partnership, anchored in mutual trust and a shared commitment to ensuring a secure and stable Indian Ocean Region in line with the vision of MAHASAGAR,” the Navy said in a statement on Tuesday.PM Narendra Modi announced the vision MAHASAGAR or ‘Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions” for India’s engagement with the Global South during his visit to Mauritius in March last year.Indian Navy Chief Warns Modern Wars May Be Long, Calls For Strong Defence Industrial Capacity
