All’s well that ends well. A Bengaluru-based techie revealed how he had to undergo no less than 36 interviews for over five months before he bagged a Rs 30 lakh per year job in Hyderabad. Taking to the subreddit Developers India, he shared his journey. He had to leave his previous employer because of severe sciatica and used the career break to focus on his recovery. Once he was better, he decided to strengthen his expertise in Generative AI, given the growing demand for the technology and his own keen interest in the field.The job search was not at all simple. He went thru 36 rounds of technical interviews, submitted a large number of applications, and received hundreds of calls from recruiters. He encountered several obstacles and unforeseen circumstances along the way.He once declined a position with a large corporation after realising that the hiring manager's expectations and his own were significantly different during the L4 in-person interview.Even though the vacancy was supposedly urgent, another international corporation kept his application at the offer-in-progress stage on its employment page. Eventually, the extended status turned into a humorous reminder of how erratic hiring procedures can be.However, his efforts eventually did pay off. After months of interviews and assessments, he landed an SDE-3 position with a Hyderabad-based company. Unfortunately, he did not get much of a salary hike, but he could again support his family after seven months. However, the only bittersweet factor was that he had to relocate to Hyderabad from Bengaluru. His story emphasises the value of perseverance throughout a challenging job search. Even unsuccessful interviews can offer a chance to pinpoint areas of weakness, advance technical expertise, and better position oneself for future opportunities. His experience serves as a reminder that rejection doesn't always mean the end. A breakthrough may finally result from perseverance, learning, and adaptation.
