President Donald Trump said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave the administration at the end of August to focus on her young family but remain closely involved as an outside adviser and influential Republican voice ahead of the midterms.
Trump Keeps Leavitt Close for Midterms "Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom," Trump wrote on Wednesday, calling her "one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office." Trump said Leavitt will depart "so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!" He added, "Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party," as Republicans seek to "defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections." She also has a 2-year-old son.
She called serving Trump "the honor and adventure of a lifetime." Leavitt Cites Motherhood In White House Exit "The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve," while giving the press secretary role its required "constant time, energy, and attention," Leavitt wrote, calling her departure a "bittersweet decision." Leavitt became the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history when Trump selected her after his 2024 victory.
