Alaimoana Leilani Jackson has returned home to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Cancer Society, pledging to strengthen awareness, stakeholder partnerships and patient support.

Alaimoana began her two-year appointment last week, bringing more than 30 years of experience in nurse and physiotherapy and working with Pacific communities in New Zealand. In 2024, she was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order by King Charles III.

Born and raised in Savai‘i, Alaimoana is the daughter of the late high chief Va‘asiliifiti Moelagi Jackson, but she said it was her mother’s influence that shaped her commitment to service and problem-solving.

“I had the privilege of being my mother’s shadow, and through her work, I was introduced very early to the calibre of people that are doing this … when they see something, they always try and find solutions to not only fix the problem, but fix the root cause of the problem.”

Alaimoana said she brings a sound understanding of cancer and its effects on patients and families.
