The fire aboard KMP Putri Yasmin occurred less than two weeks after another deadly ferry fire that claimed five lives.

One person was killed after a ferry carrying hundreds of passengers caught fire off the coast of Lombok, marking Indonesia’s third fatal passenger ferry accident in less than a month.The vessel, the KMP Mutiara Yasmin, was traveling from Padangbai Port in Bali to Lembar Port on the neighboring island of Lombok when the fire broke out at around 4:15 a.m., roughly two hours after the ferry began its journey.
