The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued a 10-year-old boy in separate operations across the state.
The command, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, said one of the suspects, identified as Abdullahi Buba, alias “Osho,” was arrested during an intelligence-led raid on a criminal hideout in Tudun Doki Village, Gwadabawa Local Government Area.
According to the statement, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit conducted the operation at about 2 p.m. on August 8, leading to the arrest of Buba, who allegedly confessed to being a key member of a notorious kidnapping syndicate.
The police said the suspect admitted to participating in a series of kidnappings and the illegal imposition of levies on communities across Gwadabawa, Kware and Gada local government areas.
“During preliminary interrogation, Buba confessed to being a key member of a notorious syndicate responsible for a series of kidnappings and the illegal imposition of levies on innocent communities,” the statement said.
