It was not long ago that the Journalist Association of Samoa (JAWS) celebrated its 50th anniversary.
During one of the closing events, veteran journalist and longtime media practitioner Apulu Lance Polu reflected on the association’s journey and spoke about the responsibilities that come with journalism.
Some of his remarks were directed at the Samoa Observer and Prime Minister La‘aulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt’s ban on this newspaper from his press conferences.
Apulu spoke about correcting inaccurate articles as soon as errors become known. He spoke about fairness and responsibility.
