The forward is under contract until 2027, with the club holding an option to extend until 2028.While Galatasaray are intent on adding Martinelli to their squad, the Brazilian international is not pushing to leave Arsenal. If he is to depart, his expectation would be to move to one of Europe’s strongest leagues.Arsenal entered the summer market knowing that player trading would be part of their approach to the market. Thus far they have sold Christian Norgaard to Everton (£7m; $9.4m) and Leandro Trossard to Besiktas (€20m; £17.1m, $22.9m), but there is an acceptance that more departures will be necessary before the close of the window.Galatasaray won the Turkish Super Lig last season and have the likes of Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, Baris Alper Yilmaz and former Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira in their squad.Martinelli played in four of Brazil’s five matches at this summer’s World Cup, starting once and scoring the last-minute winning goal against Japan in the last-32 stage.Arsenal have already undergone changes in their wide attacking department this summer, with Christos Tzolis signed from Club Brugge and Leonardo Trossard leaving Mikel Arteta’s squad to join Besiktas.The north London club also registered an interest in signing Vinicius Junior this summer, before the Brazil international signed a new long-term contract in the Spanish capital through to 2032.Martinelli was a fixture of Arsenal’s side last season as they won the Premier League for the first time in 22 years and reached the Champions League final. He made 53 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists.Martinelli joined Arsenal as a 19-year-old in 2019 from Brazilian club Ituano and has gone on to score 62 goals across 278 first-team appearances.
