The five professional hockey players acquitted last year of sexually assaulting a woman in a London, Ont. hotel room breached Hockey Canada’s code of conduct, an independent appeal panel has confirmed.

While upholding that finding, the panel made up of three retired judges also recommended that player Alex Formenton’s suspension be lifted immediately and that the suspensions of the other four players should be maintained for various lengths of time: Cal Foote until Nov. 10 of this year, Carter Hart until Nov. 10, 2027, Dillon Dubé until Nov. 10, 2028, and Michael McLeod until Nov. 10, 2030.
