Heading into this year's MLB Trade Deadline, several analysts and observers thought the San Francisco Giants would trade away a high-ranking pitcher who was under contract. While that would be a rare move, it has been a rare Year by the Bay. The historically contending franchise finds itself in a minefield. With the club's record now 50-70, they trail the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers by 22 games. Only the Colorado Rockies (47-73) are keeping the Giants out of the NL West basement... but the season isn't over yet.With the smoke officially cleared, veteran Logan Webb will remain in San Francisco for at least the 2027 campaign. In the meantime, he will try to achieve a couple of goals on the way to the finish line of this regular season. The right-hander has gone 7-7 with a 3.39 ERA in 21 starts. "He's been surrounded by newcomers; he was close with Robbie, so the other veteran is gone. [And] there's really nobody else in the rotation who is a solid number two [starter]; there's nobody close to him.""There's something to be gained over these last few weeks. It sounds weird to say, but the Giants are 20 games under .500 mark. I think for Logan now, it's just about finishing with another good year. So while 2026 has been a .500 season with a struggling team, he will enter his age-30 season with his feet planted beneath him. He can walk in the door next year with some deserved confidence.Webb is the team's longest-tenured player, having spent his entire eight-year MLB tenure in the Golden Gate City. He's a fan favorite in 'Frisco. Now, he must pinpoint what improvements he needs to make with what's left of the schedule and tune up for the next chapter.
