Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday dismissed as “baseless” the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) allegations of irregularities in various welfare schemes of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. The Minister said AAP is rattled by the launch of a number of welfare schemes.This comes amidst allegations by the AAP of scams in the BJP government in procurement of medicines, rice, and bicycles. Meanwhile, the AAP on Wednesday continued to attack the government over the alleged scam in procurement of cycles for a government scheme.
The Minister said that there was a narrative by the AAP that if the BJP comes to power then slums will be demolished, but the BJP has actually allowed lakhs of more slum dwellers to be eligible for rehabilitation by amending the DUSIB Act.
The Delhi Assembly on Tuesday passed a Bill extending the cut-off date for slum dwellers eligible for rehabilitation to January 1, 2025, from the existing date of January 1, 2006.
Mr. Sood also attacked senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi for not attending the monsoon session of the Assembly.
“AAP is completely flustered and trembling with panic after seeing the joyful faces of over 3,000 young girls receiving brand-new bicycles. They are not just scammers, they are daily fabricators of fake percentages. One day they claim (there is a corruption of) Rs. 90 crore, then 75% (commission), then 70%, and then 43%. Their changing figures expose their political desperation,” Mr. Sood said while addressing a press conference.
