France’s Mistral has revealed plans to build 1 gigawatt of compute capacity in Europe by 2030, as part of a major expansion of its infrastructure business aimed at boosting European AI sovereignty.
The AI lab said the overriding aim of its new roadmap is to advance AI sovereignty, stating in an Aug. 11 blog post: “We believe every enterprise and country must be in control of the model it uses, choose where the intelligence runs, control the compute capacity to scale it and retain its compounding value.”
And to help deliver this, the vendor detailed new concrete steps it plans to take.
