Perez Hilton’s mother is now seeking temporary custody of his children after the celebrity blogger was hospitalized during a mental health crisis at his South Florida home last week.Miami-Dade court records showed the 48-year-old’s mother filed for temporary custody of his three children.Natalie F. Guerra-Valdes, an attorney representing the mother, sent a statement to NBC6 on Wednesday.“My main concern and objective, as well as the family’s, is to protect the children and make sure they are safe. We want them to have some sense of normalcy as they begin their journey of healing after the tragic events that occurred last week,” the statement read.Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, livestreamed what appeared to be self-harm from his Westchester home on Aug. 4.The video, which was streamed on TikTok before the platform pulled it, appeared to show Hilton covered in blood, with visible cuts and holding what appeared to be a knife, NBC News reported. In the video, viewers pleaded with him and asked for his phone number so they could alert authorities.The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded after they received “multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.”The sheriff’s office later confirmed that person was Hilton and that he was Baker Acted.Hilton’s family released a statement on Saturday that said he remained hospitalized in serious condition and had been stabilized, but said his injuries would require surgery.The family said it “remains focused on Perez’s treatment and recovery.”
