The organisation specifically expressed concern over the reported killing of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area, who was allegedly struck by a stray bullet during a clash.
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has raised the alarm over alleged killings, political violence, intimidation and vote buying ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
CISLAC warned that the growing incidents of violence and alleged voter inducement could undermine the credibility of the August 15 election and discourage citizens from freely exercising their right to vote.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, the organisation said its concerns were based on findings from independent monitoring, media reports and ongoing assessments of the state’s electoral environment.
According to CISLAC, several election-related incidents have been recorded across Osun in recent months, including reported killings, shootings, clashes, attacks on political gatherings, destruction of property and other forms of intimidation.
