According to him, Fadahunsi and others involved in such acts could eventually face proceedings before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.
The Presidential candidate of the Accord Party, Dr Gbenga Hashim, has warned politicians and other individuals inciting violence ahead of the Osun State governorship election that they could face prosecution for international crimes.
Hashim issued the warning as the August 15 election enters its final days, following controversy over remarks attributed to Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East in the National Assembly.
In a video, Fadahunsi was captured telling members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to kill members of the Accord Party found before Saturday’s election. The senator later denied the allegation, but the reported remarks have generated widespread reactions.
Hashim said those inciting political violence, particularly murder, should be prepared to face consequences under international law.
