The UCT Vice-Chancellor Professor Mosa Moshabela
Mosa Moshabela, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town (UCT), is challenging Council decisions in court amid serious allegations against his conduct, igniting a renewed debate on leadership and governance at the institution.
Moshabela has turned to the Western Cape High Court seeking to overturn a series of Council decisions following an investigation into 34 complaints.
Moshabela wants Resolutions 3, 4, 5 and 6, adopted by UCT Council at a special meeting on May 30, reviewed and set aside.
The complaints reportedly included matters categorised by UCT’s Ombud as sexual harassment, cultural discrimination and gender discrimination, as well as concerns relating to professional relationships and authority.
