The Udupi district police have arrested two more persons allegedly involved in the murder of former President of the Mudarangadi Gram Panchayat David D’Souza.The police identified the accused as Chirag Poojary, 26, and Mohammed Irshad, 43, both from Tenka village in Kapu taluk of Udupi district. The police found that the duo had supplied money to the three persons arrested for shooting down Mr. D’Souza on August 7. They had supplied money while the alleged assailants were in Mudarangadi for a recce two months ago and after the commission of the murder.The police said a search was under way for the person who had given the ‘supari’ to the three alleged assailants. The link between the person who gave the supari and the Punjab-based firm that has gained from the murder of Mr. D’Souza was being explored, the police said.Mr. D’Souza was attacked by an assailant when he was about to board his jeep parked in front of his office, ‘Prince Enterprises’, near St. Francis Xavier Church in Pilar on the evening of August 7. CCTV images showed the assailant hitting Mr. D’Souza and firing at him, even as he fell to the ground. The assailant was also seen threatening onlookers with a firearm and fleeing from the spot on a motorcycle with his accomplice.
