Taiwanese companies are taking longer to fill vacancies while losing new hires more quickly, highlighting a widening talent crunch as employers compete for workers in an increasingly tight labor market, a report released yesterday by 104 Job Bank showed.Companies needed an average of 44.9 days to hire an employee last year, while only 62.2 percent of new hires remained on the job for at least six months, down 4 percentage points from a year earlier, the job bank’s Human Resources Report said.Hiring difficulties are especially acute for managers, the report said, as companies took an average of 77 days to find suitable managerial candidates, compared with 40 days for general employees.
