Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密) yesterday said that net profit for the second quarter grew 35 percent year-on-year to NT$59.98 billion (US$1.86 billion), a record for a single quarter and beating the NT$58 billion average analyst estimate.Earnings per share rose to a record NT$4.27 from NT$3.19 a year earlier, Hon Hai chief financial officer David Huang (黃德財) told an online earnings conference.Gross margin fell to 6.12 percent from 6.33 percent due to changes in product mix, but operating margin improved to 3.75 percent from 3.16 percent due to better expense control, Huang said, adding that the figure is expected to stay above 3.2 percent for the full year.
