Electric shavers have entered a new era of luxury, and Braun’s new Nevo makes that abundantly clear. If Braun’s excellent Series nine is its S-class, the new Nevo is its Maybach. Rather than iterating on what was already one of the best foil shavers on the market, Braun fundamentally reengineered the Nevo, redesigning the foil system, developing a new stainless-steel unibody, and adding a handful of actually useful tech features (mercifully without trying to turn your razor into another smartphone accessory).
Of course, it’s also quite an investment. For anyone who owns the Series 9, the question naturally arises: Is it worth the upgrade? Braun calls it its “closest shave yet”—a familiar refrain in the razor world. I’ll admit, electric shavers and I have a complicated history, mine sometimes ending with irritation or missed patches, so I don’t take claims like that lightly. To help inform your shaving calculus, I spent time putting the Nevo through its paces before heading to Frankfurt—Braun’s home turf. There, I met with the design team and got a close look at the iconic brand’s methodical approach to creating this whirring feat of German engineering. After seeing how much thought went into every detail—and then putting it to my own face for several weeks—I came away convinced: this is Braun’s most accomplished razor yet.
