President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday called for immediate steps to establish security and begin Gaza's reconstruction while condemning the Israeli government's unlawful actions in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, warning that they threaten the future of a sovereign Palestinian state.
Erdoğan said the conditions necessary to launch reconstruction efforts in Gaza and ensure security must be established without delay, as he spoke at a joint news conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ankara.
“The necessary conditions for initiating the reconstruction and rebuilding process in Gaza and ensuring security must be provided as soon as possible,” he said.
Turning to developments in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, Erdoğan criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government for continuing unlawful measures despite international scrutiny.
“The genocidal Netanyahu government continues its unlawful actions in the West Bank and Jerusalem before the eyes of the entire world,” Erdoğan said.
