Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble — a four-year Tar Heel and two-year starter — has committed to Louisville, he told ESPN on Wednesday, making him the latest player from the recruiting class of 2022 to attempt to return to school.Trimble, 22, seemingly wrapped up his UNC career in March and played for the Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer League last month, but he also entered the transfer portal in the spring. But a growing number of former college players from the 2022 class have sued — in Ohio, Tennessee, California and Colorado, among others — for a fifth season of eligibility, with college basketball offering a more lucrative payday than options in the G League or overseas.On July 31, a U.S. District Court judge in Colorado granted a preliminary injunction that gives the players from the 2022 class another year of eligibility for the coming school year, opening the door for a player like Trimble to return. The NCAA has appealed the ruling and said Tuesday it did not plan to issue a blanket waiver for members of the 2022 class to return under the new eligibility rules, but the injunction currently remains in effect.
