The flight departed Toronto Pearson International Airport at 5:18 p.m. on Aug. 6. After about eight hours in the air, the aircraft made an emergency landing at Rome's Fiumicino International Airport at 7:20 a.m. the next day after developing a technical problem, Bangladesh's Dhaka Tribune news site reported.
Passengers said they were kept aboard the aircraft for around eight hours without functioning air conditioning, causing several to feel unwell, Daily Star reported.
After hours of attempts to resolve the problem, the flight was eventually cancelled and passengers were asked to disembark and moved to the terminal.

To repair the aircraft, Biman sent a team of engineers from Bangladesh to Rome with the necessary spare parts and equipment. The team arrived at around 11:15 p.m. Bangladesh time on Aug. 8 and began work on the aircraft.
