AI Memory Demand Outpaces Supply

At KeyBanc Capital Markets’ Technology Leadership Forum 2026 on Aug. 10, Micron executives said AI is reshaping the memory cycle. Demand is growing faster than industry supply, while calendar 2027 is expected to be even tighter than 2026.

The shortage is most severe in data centers. Micron said it can often meet no more than half of customer demand, even at “very high” prices.

Management said the company is balancing price increases with long-term customer relationships and returns on investment. Micron expects product mix, shipments and pricing to support future revenue and profit growth.
