I have a confession: I used to think of watches as something you wore because you needed to know the time. Now, I treat them as part of the outfit.

There are days when I'm wearing jeans and a basic tee, and a watch is the one thing that makes the whole look feel finished. Then there are office days when a structured watch instantly makes trousers and a shirt look more polished. And with ethnicwear, I love how the right watch can add a contemporary touch without competing with the jewellery.

The funny thing is that I don't think you need a different watch for every outfit. In fact, I've found myself reaching for a small rotation of styles again and again because they work with almost everything I already own.

My rule: if I can wear it with jeans and a kurta, it's a winner

The most useful watches in my wardrobe aren't necessarily the loudest ones. They're the ones that disappear into an outfit when I want them to and become a subtle styling detail when I don't.
