Chinese-founded AI agent start-up Manus said it will “soon resume operating as an independent company”, after regulators in mainland China forced Facebook parent Meta to unwind its $2 billion (£1.5bn) acquisition of the company.

Manus said on Tuesday that some users will need to back up data generated on or after 29 December of last year, the date the Meta deal was announced.

It said it would supply data-protection tools.
