An AI agent tasked by a developer in Melbourne, Australia to book him spots in a busy Pilates class did so by hacking the gym’s booking system and cancelling another person’s reservation, in another reminder of the often unpredictable actions semi-autonomous agents can take.
The incident, which occurred in April, was reported in Australian media this week.
It came to light after recent incidents in which AI models took unauthorised actions during testing, gaining internet access and hacking outside companies in order to complete tasks they’d been given.
