Ferry capsizes on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe after hitting strong waves, with multiple people feared dead and dozens rescued.
At least 15 people were killed, and 27 remained missing when an overcrowded ferry on Zimbabwe's Lake Kariba capsized, authorities said on Wednesday, noting 77 passengers were rescued.
The boat, which overturned Tuesday after hitting strong waves, was carrying 114 adult passengers, 5 crew members and some children despite a capacity of 90 people, a statement from Zimbabwe's civil protection unit said as the search for the missing continued.
Lake Kariba lies on Zimbabwe's border with Zambia, more than 300 kilometres northeast of the capital Harare.
It is the world's largest man-made lake by volume.
