One of the biggest Seahawks subplots of the offseason has been the contract extension drama with Devon Witherspoon. And it’s not hard to understand why. Spoon is one of the best players in the league and will almost certainly set the market at his position with his new deal. However, there’s another Seahawk entering his fourth season who could get his new deal. The Logic Behind Extending Anthony BradfordYes, I’m talking about Anthony Bradford. Not the first player that comes to mind when you think about early contract extensions. His generally inconsistent play and countless mistakes have turned him into something of a punching bag. Many Seahawks fans lament the fact that the team hasn’t yet replaced him as a starter. And yet, the team seems to like him.Anthony Bradford says on @933KJR the Seahawks haven’t approached him about a new contract:“There’s nowhere else I would rather be. I feel like my heart and soul is in Seattle. I feel like I am a Seahawk.”Should the Seahawks extend Bradford? pic.twitter.com/UzLbRPIdN3— SleeperSeahawks (@SleeperSeahawks) August 10, 2026We’ve heard Macdonald praise Bradford on multiple occasions and indicate that, by their metrics, he’s a very good player. While that doesn’t necessarily guarantee they view him as a long-term part of their roster, it certainly opens the door to the possibility. If they do, better to extend him now, at a cheaper rate, before he has what will likely be his best season. All Quiet On The Bradford FrontHowever, according to the man himself, the Seahawks haven’t yet opened the door on the conversation. On 93.3 KJR Radio, Bradford said that the team hasn’t discussed a new contract with him yet, which would pretty strongly indicate that they intend to go into the season with things as they are. Bradford, for his part, sounded enthusiastic about a long-term deal.Seattle Seahawks guard Anthony Bradford (75) against the New England Patriots during Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect“There’s nowhere else I would rather be,” he said. “I feel like my heart and soul is in Seattle. I feel like I am a Seahawk.” Bradford has played a lot of football for the Seahawks over the last three years, including 98% of the regular season snaps in 2025. He’s certainly justified in feeling like a Seahawk. But that’s no guarantee of a commitment in a salary cap league. The Likely OutcomeThe Seahawks are focused on extending superstars like Devon Witherspoon and Leonard Williams. They’ve already extended Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Charles Cross, and Abraham Lucas. Extensions for players like Byron Murphy, AJ Barner, Grey Zabel, Nick Emmanwori, and Sam Darnold are coming up. The books have to be balanced.Atlanta Falcons linebacker Devine Deablo (0) and Seattle Seahawks guard Anthony Bradford (75) battle. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectThat balancing act is a big reason why the team allowed contributors like Ken Walker, Coby Bryant, and Boye Mafe to leave in the offseason. I would certainly group Bradford in with a group like that as opposed to the above one. You have to have your priorities in line. And while I don’t dislike him, I’d be hard pressed to consider Anthony Bradford to be a priority.— Enjoy free coverage of the Super Bowl champions from Seattle Seahawks On SI —Sign Up For the Seahawks Daily Digest - OnSI’s Free Seattle Seahawks NewsletterAdd us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
