"That’s where my mindset is right now, standing here today. Last year, Maye started in the preseason opener against the Commanders and stayed in through two drives. Backup Joshua Dobbs played the next four drives, up until the end of the first half. Now, with a year under their belts working with each other, Maye's expected inactivity on Thursday would follow a trend set by Vrabel in Tennessee.Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill did not play in the preseason opener during any of Vrabel's final three years with the Titans -- after the NFL shifted to a three-game preseason slate. As Maye continued to grow in the Patriots' system, Vrabel anticipates him getting that same treatment as Tannehill this Thursday.
