Russia is preparing for mobilization after parliamentary elections are held in the fall.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his evening video address, Ukrinform reports.
"There was a report from the Defense Intelligence – Oleh Ivashchenko – on Russia's preparations for mobilization. Everything is confirmed by internal Russian documents – they are preparing it for the fall, right after the imitation of parliamentary elections. Putin's plan is not particularly complicated. He wants to create the impression that Russians," he said.
According to military intelligence, Putin's plan is to create the appearance that Russians supposedly support the war, since all parties allowed to participate in the elections oppose peace.
Immediately after the elections, Russia plans to carry out an additional rapid mobilization of several hundred thousand Russians by the end of the year, with another similar number planned for the following year. This would be in addition to the recruitment effort Russia is attempting to fulfill through military contracts.
