The Ole Miss Rebels are busy preparing for the 2026 season under new head coach Pete Golding, as fall camp is underway in Oxford. However, that's hardly stopping Golding and the coaching staff from continuing to do work on the 2028 recruiting trail as the offseason comes to a close.Ole Miss has secured a significant commitment from 2028 four-star defensive lineman Antavion Allen, per reports from Rivals. He's the Allen is just the second commitment for Ole Miss in the 2028 recruiting class, joining three-wide receiver Latedrick Mallard, a McComb, MS., native who announced his commitment to the Rebels on June 22. While the coaching staff is understandably prioritizing the upcoming season along with finalizing its 2027 class, it's important to start building a foundation in the 2028 cycle as well. For Ole Miss, there's no better way to do this than by landing a pair of Mississippi natives. Allen also received offers from programs like Oregon, Texas, LSU, Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, UNLV, Oregon State, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Tulane and many more.During the 2025 season, he posted 66 tackles (21 for loss), 18 sacks and a forced fumble.A Recap of Ole Miss' 2027 Recruiting ClassOle Miss Rebels Football: Keegan Croucher. | Courtesy of Keegan Croucher via X.With now only two commits for Ole Miss in 2028, it's worth taking a look at what the team has built so far in the 2027 cycle. The upcoming season will allow the Rebels to further prove to recruits just how bright the future is in Oxford along with hosting many of their commitments -- or even players committed elsewhere -- for visits on campus during game day. Ole Miss already has commitments from four-star players like wide receiver Alvin Mosley, defensive linemen Ben'Jarvius Shumaker, Marvin Nguetsop and Mitchell Turner, quarterback Keegan Croucher, offensive lineman Antonio Berry, cornerback Taelyn Mayo and many more. Most of the top players in the 2027 class have already committed to other teams, so if the Rebels want to add more talent this cycle, they will have to target some notable flips during the season and leading up to signing day.Sign up to our free newsletter and follow us on Facebook and X for the latest news.
