The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has stepped up coordination with aviation agencies, airlines and security agencies to minimise the impact of the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions and sustain orderly airport operations.
FAAN, in a statement signed by its management, said it was closely monitoring developments arising from the strike while taking measures to ensure that airports across the country remain safe, secure and functional.
The authority said it recognised the role of organised labour and supported ongoing efforts led by Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and Aerospace Development, to reach an amicable resolution of the dispute.
“In the interim, FAAN is working closely with the relevant aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to minimise the impact of the industrial action and ensure that airport operations are not disrupted,” the authority said.
The development comes as aviation unions continue their industrial action, with disruptions to flight operations raising concerns among passengers and other users of the country’s airports.
