Aug. 11 (UPI) -- CBS' reality competition series Big Brother will become the first prime-time series to air 1,000 episodes this summer.
To celebrate the milestone on Aug. 27, the network is putting together a special program featuring past contestants and memorable moments from the show's 26-year run.
"When we launched Season 1, there were rumors we could get canceled mid-season because we didn't have the same ratings as Survivor. And now look at us, Ma! Two former Survivor players are currently on our show, including a former winner, Dee," host Julie Chen Moonves said in a statement Monday.
"Although the past 28 seasons feel like the blink of an eye, it doesn't look that way when you see all the fashion trends and hairstyles I've worn through the decades," she added.
