Nagapattinam Collector K. J. Praveen Kumar felicitates NEET achiever M. Dinesh and his parents.

M. Dinesh, a student from Periyakuthagai village in Vedaranyam block who topped the 7.5% reservation category for government school students in the MBBS cut-offs for government medical college seats in NEET in Tamil Nadu, with 599 marks, was felicitated by Nagapattinam Collector K. J. Praveen Kumar on Tuesday.Dinesh, who studied at the District Government Model School, was honoured with a shawl by Collector. His parents Murugaiyyan and Umarani of Periya Kuthagai village were also congratulated at the event.In his address, Mr. Kumar said the student’s academic success had raised the profile of the district. “Dinesh is the pride of our district, his family and teachers. He is an inspiration, especially for those who are studying in Nagapattinam District Government Model School.”A talented student, Dinesh attended government schools right through and studied Plus Two at the Nagapattinam district government model school. He consistently performed well academically, scoring 475 marks (out of 500) in Class X and 554 (out of 600) in Class XII, according to an official press release.Though he did not get an opportunity to join medical studies after Class XII as he scored 379 in his first attempt at NEET, he decided take a year off to prepare at the Model School which has been conducting coaching classes since 2022, and re-appeared for the exam. A total of 12 students at the school have so far passed the NEET exams with good results in the past four years.Kelkar Subhramanya Bhalchandra, Superintendent of Police, and V.
