Lieutenant General V. Sreehari, AVSM, SC and SM, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, visited his alma mater, Sainik School, Amaravathinagar, on Monday.Lt. Gen. Sreehari, accompanied by his wife, Uma Sreehari, zonal president, AWWA, and Colonel Sasi Kumar, Colonel (Q), Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area, was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the school’s cadet contingent and band on his arrival.He interacted with Associate NCC Officers and staff members, and recalled his formative years at the institution. He acknowledged the role of NCC training in shaping him as a military leader and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and staff in nurturing the cadets.Addressing the cadets, Lt. Gen. Sreehari urged them to make the most of their years at the school and strive for excellence in academics, sports and other activities. Recalling the values of discipline, leadership and service instilled in him during his time at the institution, he encouraged the cadets to aspire to serve the nation through the Armed Forces.He also recalled the contributions of his teachers to his personality and career, highlighting their role in shaping cadets beyond the classroom through sports, extracurricular activities, discipline and character building.Lt. Gen. Sreehari later toured the campus and inspected the academic facilities, cadet dormitories, sports facilities and training areas.
