ALBAWABA - Khalifa Haftar’s intelligence head has been assassinated in Benghazi by a car bomb on Tuesday.Fawzi al-Mansouri was the head of military intelligence for the Libyan National Army (LNA) which has been in conflict with the UN backed and recognized Abdulhamid Dbeibah administration in Tripoli since Gaddafi’s ousting in 2011.Mansouri was killed by an explosive device attached to his truck which was detonated as he was leaving after prayers from a local mosque in eastern Benghazi at night, according to a statement by the Libyan Army.🇱🇾 One of the LNA’s top intelligence chiefs got taken out in Benghazi.Major General Fawzi Al-Mansouri, the man running military intelligence for the Libyan National Army, was killed by a car bomb right outside his own home.An assassination this high up could rip a hole… pic.twitter.com/Rn7QOCAg0y— Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal) August 11, 2026 The LNA did not identify or give any hints toward those responsible, saying instead that it was “a cowardly and criminal act”, adding in a statement: “We will not cease fighting terrorism and will continue our struggle for the stability and security of Libya, as well as for the unification of its institutions," they said.
