Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to US President Donald Trump and the international community to closely monitor the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
Davido, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election, made the appeal in a statement posted on his official X account on Wednesday, as an election town hall organised by Arise Television was underway.
The singer said growing concerns over possible violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process had made international attention necessary.
“A CALL FOR ATTENTION TO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP,” Davido wrote.
He urged Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that their votes count.
