A new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnanna Ama on Monday assumed office following the promotion of former police commissioner, Ikioye Orutugu to the rank of assistant-inspector general (AIG) of police and subsequent retirement.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesman in Anambra, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Awka.
Mr Ikenga, a police superintendent, said that the new commissioner of police is an experienced and accomplished senior police officer with over three decades of distinguished service in the force.
He said prior to Mr Ama’s redeployment, he served as commissioner of police Intelligence and Training at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, having previously served as deputy commissioner of police in the same office.
The new commissioner hails from Ekata in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and holds a B.Sc. in psychology from the University of Jos.
