If you've ever been on holiday to somewhere warm, you'll probably have seen the phenomenon known as "sunbed wars", where hotel guests race to stake their claim on sunbeds around the hotel pool.The practice is divisive, with some people seeing no issue with it and others believing it is unfair to take a sunbed early in the morning and then leave to go and have breakfast, meaning no one else can use the spot while you're gone. And now, one man on social media has shared exactly what the morning rush looks like at one hotel in Spain.This comes as another hotel in Cyprus went viral for its method of preventing sunbed wars. Anthony shared a video on TikTok, which he filmed from the balcony of his hotel room, showing other hotel guests as they sprinted across the courtyard below his room and made their way to the pool and the sunbeds surrounding it.‌Each one of them raced to a sunbed before throwing their towels and bags down on it to secure their spot by the pool, but not a single person actually sat on the sunbed they had "reserved" - as they were only securing their place before going to have breakfast inside the hotel.At one point in the video, Anthony could be heard off-camera telling the other guests to "get a grip" and tutting in disapproval of their actions.In the caption, he wrote: "No, it's not sped up. That's how fast they run."Content cannot be displayed without consentCommenters on the post shared in Anthony's disapproval, as many of them said that hotels shouldn't allow guests to reserve sunbeds with their belongings. Others said they couldn't understand why people spend so much money going on holiday if all they do is lounge by the pool instead of venturing out to see the sights of the country they're visiting.One person asked: "Why do people pay all that money to go on holiday just to sit by a pool and sleep all day?"‌Another added: "Can't imagine being this bothered over a sunbed. I'd be too busy being out and about enjoying my holiday."A third wrote: "It's genuinely sad how people go on holiday and have to sit down around a pool on sunbeds, instead of going to a different place and exploring. Like, I get it is nice, but explore."However, some people defended the guests, saying that if the hotel had more sunbeds to accommodate most guests, then racing to secure a sunbed wouldn't be an issue. They claimed that people only fight over sunbeds because there aren't enough to go around, so it should be up to the hotel to provide more spaces.Several commenters also said it's up to holidaymakers how they spend their time, and that lounging by the pool is a perfectly valid way to enjoy a break from work - especially for older travellers who may not have the energy to spend all day walking for miles to explore their surroundings.Someone wrote: "Some people just want to relax, lie down, chill, and bathe in the pool. Not everyone wanna walk every day and see things the whole day."Another commenter agreed, writing: "Why can't we let people do whatever they want? There's nothing relaxing about walking around in the baking heat. That's why, when I'm on holiday, I usually book excursions and have days like this in between, because lying down is relaxing.
