Air Peace Management has officially broken its silence following early-morning disruptions to its flight schedules, attributing the widespread delays and cancellations to physical terminal blockades mounted by major labour unions at Nigeria’s primary commercial hubs.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, the domestic carrier confirmed that members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) barricaded critical access points to its departure halls in Lagos and Abuja.
Union picketers barricaded departure entry points at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Alpha and Zulu Terminals) and Terminal 2 (MMA2) in Lagos, alongside the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport departure terminal in Abuja.
Because Lagos and Abuja serve as central connectivity hubs for Air Peace, restricting access at these terminals prevented the departure of scheduled flights and triggered cascading delays across its entire domestic and regional route network.
