Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov
Bulgaria still has not received information from Ukraine about the drone that was shot down near the village of Kardam, Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said during a visit to the Yambol region. Bulgarian authorities have also not established whether the drone was carrying explosives.
Stoyanov said Bulgaria had sought information through the relevant services and that the issue had also been discussed at a meeting between Bulgaria's foreign minister and the Ukrainian ambassador. However, no response has yet been received from Kyiv.
"Despite the meeting of the Foreign Minister with the Ukrainian ambassador, our inquiry to Ukraine through the services - we still have no answer," Stoyanov said. He added that he had spoken with the head of military intelligence and that another meeting with Ukraine's military attaché would be arranged to seek additional information.
The minister also addressed Ukraine's statement that the drone had not been sent toward Bulgaria. According to Stoyanov, this does not rule out the possibility that the aircraft came from Ukrainian territory because GPS signals can be disrupted.
