MOSCOW, August 11. /TASS/. European elites are seriously concerned about the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision to lift sanctions on the Russian Olympic Committee and Russian athletes, the Foreign Intelligence Service reported.

According to the SVR press bureau, the EU is considering introducing visa restrictions and new limitations with regards to athletes and Russian sports officials.

TASS has compiled key SVR’s statements.

European elites are seriously concerned about the IOC decision to lift sanctions on the Russian Olympic Committee and Russian athletes: "Brussels and other European capitals complain that the IOC's move downplays the West's multi-year efforts to 'isolate' Russia in international sports. The prospect of Russian athletes participating fully in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles with the national flag and anthem causes special concern, bordering on panic, among European bureaucrats."

Driven by their Russophobia, European bureaucrats are willing to sacrifice the Olympic movement itself: "It seems that Russophobia has made European bureaucrats so irrational that they are now willing to sacrifice the Olympic movement."
