Racing down the curving halls of their inpatient unit, 10-year-old twins Milayna and Naya Soares barrel forward in their walkers, egging each other on. A short distance behind, nurses Joshua Legaspi and Michael Feir act as cheerleaders for the sisters from Barrie, as they have for the past two months.
For most kids, summer means splash pads, camps and long afternoons outside. For the Soares sisters, it has meant weeks as patients at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, but there has been plenty of room for fun, too.
