U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Islamic Republic must pay reparations for American soldiers as well as Iranian protesters killed and injured by the regime, stating that he will raise the issue in future negotiations with Tehran.
In a post on Truth Social on Monday, August 10, Trump responded to Tehran’s demands for compensation regarding damages incurred during the recent five-month military conflict. He asserted that the Islamic Republic must reciprocally pay damages for individuals killed or severely injured in various conflicts.
Trump noted that representatives of the Islamic Republic demanded compensation for damages from the “five-month military conflict,” which he stated erupted due to Tehran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear program.
“It is an interesting idea, because I am now demanding compensation from Iran for all the people killed and severely injured by roadside bombs and in many conflicts,” Trump wrote.
He specifically referenced Qasem Soleimani, the late commander of the IRGC Quds Force, and listed the families of victims of the attack on the USS Cole, along with thousands of others killed in military clashes, as potential recipients of these reparations.
